New PC
Hi all,
Hope you are all well. Haven't been gaming much lately due to work committments, maybe one day I'll get a break so I can play some PC
Anyhow I am about to start buying/building a pc and I am on around a $1,000 budget. I have got this so far:
ASRock Z77 Extreme4-M Motherboard
Intel Core i5 2500k
ASUS GeForce GTX 560Ti DirectCU II TOP 1GB
Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A 8GM DDR3 Ram 9-9-9-24
CoolerMaster eXreme Power Plus 650W
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM
Antec 900 Case
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
This all comes to $1,080 from pccasegear.com.au. Anyone see where I could improve and still keep the budget under $1,100?
All your help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Troy

Re: New PC
Best prices at Umart by far!!! Listen to Stormer and check out their prices. You would actually save a fortune if you use AMD cpu and AMD/ATI graphics cards. They do the same job for over 1/3, sometimes even half the price!!

Re: New PC
My current set-up is AMD/ATI and I am not happy with the performance. Espeically AMD's graphic drivers with the latest games. I want to give NVidia a go and see what the difference is.
I will definately look at UMart and see what I can do cheaper.
Many thanks!!

Re: New PC
Thanks for Umart suggestion
I updated the 1TB drive to a OCZ Agility 3 60GB SSD and then a Seagate 7200RPM 500GB HDD, the rest of the pc is the same and total comes to $1,132. Saves about $35. Every cent counts!!
Cheers

Re: New PC
ok Drugzy, too kyour advice and replaced Intel MB and CPU with AMD/ATI items, however will leave GPU as NVidia as I hate AMD GPU.
Revised PC is:
Antec 900 Case - $109
Coolermaster 650W Extreme Plus - $78.50
Windows 7 HP 64Bit - $92
Corsair Vengence 1600Mhz 9-9-9-24 8GB (2x4) Ram - $57.50
OCZ Agility 3 60GB SSD - $92.00
Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 500GB HDD - $77.00
Asus GTX 560Ti 1GB GPU - $255.00
AMD FX-6100 Six-core 3.3GHz 14MB AM3+ 95W CPU - $148.00
Gigabyte GA-990FXA D3 MB - $130.00
Total cost $1035 with $35 shipping.
Not too bad I would say!! Should do a good job

Re: New PC
Ok dom i have always been a nvidia man until i just got asus hd 6950 direct cu2 and i can honestly say the difference between the 2 is bugger all if any in the games that we play so i would strongly suggest not to wast your cash and maybe upgrade to a ocz 120 gig revo drive i know it's a bit more $$ but once you get one there aint no turning back.

Re: New PC
Dom here in canberra also worth checking out MSY online...
they have a shop in fyshwick ( across the road from DOMAYNE ) and may have some good prices that you can walk in and pick up.
from memory they are very competitive in their pricing... and I still like to walk in pay the $$ and walk out with my stuff.
Having said the above....Umart are very good and a good source for parts online.
Just price compare and might be helpful.. all the advice so far is spot on from the guys and those components will do a nice job for a gaming rig no probs just check the $$ as I do know MSY are sometimes same or cheaper than the computer markets at Epic and Old bus depo every fortnight.
ciao
M
PS: ATI FTW!!!! if you think about it logically there is truly not much difference between decent or mid range vid cards, you can argue about drivers and what not but 90% of the time the drivers have issues because of the local O/S configuration or customisation, and whatever other crap ppl load on their gaming machines.
To date I have not had driver issues with either ATI or NVIDIA ... bit of luck maybe ?? lol

Thanks Mussa
Will definately check out MSY. I think now I am going to go ATI/AMD as it does save one hell of a lot of money.

Re: New PC
and as i said the other day, if fan noise is an issue the Antec 900 is definately NOT quiet!! (plus there isnt a whole lot of space inside that case, for air flow)
