What's yer Set Up??

Gents.... ( and any ladies present )

I was reading Jasper's sticky key and windows buttons issues and got me wondering how you lot have set your controls up for games we play...

So to kick things off here is how I am set up... and yeah I get hassled at just about every LAN I have been to because everyone just freaks out if they try and play with my key-game set up

Move forward = Right Mouse Button

Move Backwards = Spacebar

Jump = A

Left = S

Right = D

Prone = W

Lean Left = Q

Lean Right = E

Reload = R

Use / Interact = F

Sprint = Shift

Aim / Ironsight = Middle Wheel / Mouse Button ( I press it.. you know what I mean )

Change Weapons = Mouse Wheel Up / down

Fire = left Mouse Button

Chat / Ventrilo = Middle Wheel / Mouse Button

Knife / Melee Attack = First Mouse Thumb button ( on the side of the mouse )

Throw Grenade = Second Mouse Thumb Button ( side of mouse again )



Ok those above are the basic MuSSa keys set up...whatever for all of my Online FPS games... it's how I have always had them... I dunno always ppl go ... " WTF?? OMFG!!! GTF away from me you FREAK!!!!!!!!!!!! .. " LOL I suppose it's what you get used to and just roll with it

what about you lot then??? I know our mate TRIZ plays with the mouse inverted.. that means you move your mouse up to look down and down to look up... yeah... WTF?? and you thought that I was messed up... I took over one of his games at a lan and almost covered the screen with VOMIT!! WTF?? it's not natural for your brain to move the mouse to look up and see your feet.... and vice versa.

haha I'm pretty standard... in every fps game, I copy the controls from Call of Duty...because I basically played the original:

W: Walk Forward
A: Left
S: Backwards
D: Right

Fire: Left Mouse Button

AimDownSight: Right Mouse Button

Melee: Shift

Lean Left: Q

Lean Right: E

Ventrilo: Q

Reload: R

User Interface: V

Sprint: F

Jump: Spacebar

Grenade: G

Steady Aim Sight (Hold Breath): Shift/Mouse Button 4 on G5

Grenade Launcher: 5

Flash/Stun/Smoke: 4

When COD4 came along with sprint, I changed user interface to V, and since sprint was new, to F.

OK cool. Some ppl are weird, some ppl aren't. You be the judge.
My COD controls:

Standard WASD for movement.
I don't invert my mouse like Triz (Alien)
Lean Q and E.

Crouch - C
Reload - R
Grenade throw - F
USe - G
Jump - Spacebar
Ctrl - Prone

Shoot - Left Mouse
Aim sights - Right Mouse
Knife/Melee - Middle Mouse button
Sprint - Thumb mouse button 4
V - night vision

3 - Weapon attachment

Other games I use the number keys for specific weapons if i'm not just using the scroll wheel to swap weapons.

Chat / Ventrilo = R/W (normally my lean buttons but MW2 doesn't have lean)

Knife / Melee Attack = Q

Throw Grenade = MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON

LOL Skin... I think I would throw they keyboard at you if I tried to play any game using that set up.. it's as weird as mine lol....

Just don't tell me you would "INVERT" your mouse to play and we might just be ok

Woah, I like Skins Idea...I might move my WASD buttons in a bit to RDFG.

actually i do invert, lol. Dunno why, i'm not into flight sims, just learned that way 10 yrs ago. Yeh mud ive never used WASD, leaves only 1 row of buttons (tab, caps, shift) for the little finger.

OMG Skin... I cannot believe you just typed that.... for me inverting the mouse in anything apart from a flight sim is just mind boggling... lol

you realize you have joined the TRIZ ranks now ... and he lives in the basement of this forum... lol

Mud and others of course... find a spot on the keyboard where your hand anatomically feels comfortable... look at where your fingers are and map the keys you use the most so that they will be comfortable when you are gaming.
that's the only advice I can give as you can see from above posts there are many ways to do / have this set up

PS: I still cannot believe ppl play FPS games with inverted mouse...
