Re: Car Set-Ups
thanks matey, diamond geezer...
Not sure why the pic comes out small as i posted it max size, but this was a 3 monitor span, i use one big monitor now, of what i was using in the ER leagues racing as Lotus seat 2.
The gfx show how i see the car and information, and represents what a driver may or may not have access to in the real world with info on his wheel plus engineers telling him the situation in his ear... so i don't consider it as cheating but it is certainly an advantage.
On the left you see a group of tables, these represent my sector times, times compared to other drivers, and virtual times of the track in total.
These are done by installing the GiD plugin from Fazorbox, i think Dominator has the latest link perhaps, and also gives you a running map you see over the left tyre, lap completion and laps left, and also gearing, throttle and brake pressure info see over the from car seat lip.
The most useful thing though GiD does, is when the race starts you get a complete light... RED RED GREEN appear so you don't have to worry about the lights working on the track and how they show up.
On the right side you have the temperatures and pressure information, as installed using the RFDYNHUD mod supplied by CTDP (goto their site and get the latest version if you like).
This mod does all the same as the GiD, but in a more gfx form, and as such is great for temps etc. but overkill for lap times so i use both... one for the timing, and the other for the temps.
So the top right in line with the right wheel shows my tyre temperatures... green=too cold and red=too hot, and yellow just right (as you see some green on the top right tyre, i know its small, but it shows me my top right tyre is suffering under cold conditions), bellow that shows the tyres wear.
Bottom right column, over the right tyre, shows the brake disc conditions and temps, engine condition and temp, plus oil and water.
Put it all together, and its the same as having the engineers let me know hen i need to pit to replace tires, or let my brakes breath a little etc... all info i need to race.
So if you want to know more, let me know, but the installation of RFDYNHUD is easy, and shooter they have released an updated version so maybe that'll solve your issue.
The installation of GiD is a little more fiddly, but Dom did it very recently so hopefully its fresh in his mind to help

Re: Car Set-Ups
here is the link for GiD - http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=GID%20-%20Global%20Info%20Display
It is easy to install, just copy and paste the folders into the rFactor folder as it is good to go, the only fiddly part is setting it all up on-screen so everything is the way you want it. Works a treat!
Might have to install that rfDynHUD as I like the gfx, very helpful
